I am a former under recruited Division 1 college athlete who got a scholarship on my own, well with the help of my father. Even back then I knew High Coaches are just too overworked, underpaid and overwhelmed to try to get each and every athlete a college scholarship or even an opportunity. Now that I am a father of 4, a lot of the systems are the same, only technology has made it faster and more efficient to get noticed. I have talked to several recruiting companies that have Promised the world, for a small fortune. But they always discounted right before I left, which made me think, if they could do everything They promised for the lower price, why did they try and gouge me in the beginning, or are they going to skip doing a lot of things they promised to do at the lower price. Either way, there were no guarantees they were going to do what they promised, how would I even check up on them, I guess you just have to trust them after they lied to you when they said the initial price was as they could go.
